CILO UPDATE

September 20, 2006

We have been informed by the Postal Services' Accounting and Control Specialist who is processing the 'Casual in Lieu' disbursement to the former bargaining unit members that they have run into a delay in processing the payments.

There were approximately 1,300 names submitted to the postal service for processing. Of those 1,300 former employees approximately 1,100 of them left the service before 1998. The delay is, any employee who left the service prior to 1998, their information was purged from the system. Before a check can be processed for these 1,100 former employees their information must be manually input back into the system. This is the reason for the delay.

As of right now the Accounting and Control Specialist has indicated to the Local that it would take them until late October to complete processing the information and cut the checks.

Fraternally,

Harmon P. Elliott Jr.
